Kaliklatak Agro-Tourism
For those who want to visit the plantation tours in Banyuwangi, there are several choices and one of them is Kaliklatak agro-tourism. It is a pioneer in Banyuwangi and even in Indonesia.
Kaliklatak is located on the slopes of Merapi mount, for about 15 km on the west side of Banyuwangi. This agro-tourism has an area about 1013 ha, situated at an altitude of 450 m above sea level and is managed by private companies. The main commodities of the Kaliklatak area are including coffee, cocoa, rubber, clove, and spices. At the highest point, namely Hargosonyo, visitors can enjoy the views of Banyuwangi City, Bali Strait, Blambangan Peninsula, and Bali Island beautifully.
At the first, this estate is owned by Dutch company, Mij Moorman & Co, and then in 1957 it was handed over to R. Shoehoed Prawiroatmodjo, the local entrepreneur and specializing in coffee, rubber, and cocoa. Finally Kaliklatak growing up in the fields of pepper, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, eucalyptus, coconut, and also fruits such as bananas, oranges, and longan.
Banyuwangi regency has an area of 5.78.250 km2. Banyuwangi is still an area of forest area. Area of forest area has reached about 183,396.34 ha or 31.72%, rice field area of about 66,152 ha or 11.44%, plantations with an area of 82,143.63 hectares or 14.21%, used as a residential area with an area of approximately 127 454 , 22 ha or 22.04%.
